Design Service Providers
-- And Other Web Masters
This page has links to sites run by groups or services who are available to handle your web page design business.
is a service I've used and I've been happy with.
College Hill -- Internet services
for Law Firms and other professionals. I've looked at a lot of services.
Perhaps too many. College Hill is the only one, so far, of those
aiming directly at law firms, that seems to understand that a law firm is
not a collection of graphic artists or college kids in need of a good cartoon
and some neon colors to give their web page just the right impact and look
They designed the elegant and clean site at http://www.molton.com (connect
to http://molton.com/ for information
on law and artists). College Hill is my favorite design group for legal
sites and their newsletter is well executed and developed.
Since
1995, New Media has provided comprehensive WEB development for corporate
and commercial professionals, offering services in conceptual design and
content organization; maintenance, hosting, database integration, interactive
commerce, multimedia, consultation and promotion for the WWW and America
Online (tm). On my site, I'm using a copy of a
web page they authored (with permission from New Media) as an example
of good page design. I've actually been willing to pay them money to
handle specific programming and web page issues for me.
Mediate.com -- A mediation community and design bureau on the web. If you decide to go beyond the basic four or five page brochure and on to sophisticated design, you may want to contact them.
Northern Webs offers low cost custom site designs, internet applications (cgi/java/javascript), database integration and intranet applications. Northern Webs is a five time winner of NetGuide Magazine's NetGuide Gold Site Status. Northern Web builds businesses on the web, for local, and long distance clients. They also host a newsletter on how search engines work and the Search Engine Tutorial for Web Designers linked to on Web Page Design for Attorneys.
Calafia Consulting, host of A Webmaster's Guide to Search Engines.
CMGordon, one of the original forces behind Navipress. Her site is very simple, but try some of the links to get an idea of the kind of work she does. A great resource for information and help with APress.
http://www.netlawtools.com A firm that designs web sites for attorneys and does nothing else.
http://www.internetlawyer.com/webdir.htm A listing for design service providers who serve the legal community.
Mediahog.com -- the design service bureau that handles my web page hosting issues. Obviously I like them!
-- A traditional service, with a few things more than
many. If you have a business that needs cartoons, fancy use of frames,
graphics and other traditional web page improvisations, you can get a cutting
edge web site from a provider like Sevoid or one of those he lists at his
site.
SGD Design -- A professional service that includes strategic planning, hosting, consulting and other support services as well as professional design and graphics.
YSD Internet Technologies's main service is CGI scripting
for your web design. They can provide databases for your web sites and
specialized web pages including, but not limited to, passworded web pages,
shopping carts, thank-you-for-signing- our-guest-book- web pages, web page
form validation, online calculators, etc. The company specializes in web
programming languages including PERL for CGI scripting, Javascript, VB Script,
Java, animation and sound file creation.
Blue Light -- One of my primary clients is a mediation firm named Mediation Matters (http://www.conflictnet.org/mmatters). I would like to make more web sites for mediation and legal services firms. Could I have a link on your site to mine at Http://www.bluelighttech.com
My rates are much more reasonable than others you mention for comparison. We charge $60.00/hr and as we work for hire, the works are the property of the client (albeit, we have a perpetual license to it as well). We also program in Perl and Java (as well as a smattering of other languages). We charge $90.00/hr for programming services, but we have a number of programs already written and available off-the-shelf, requiring minimal programming support.
We offer web hosting from $30.00/mo, but this is primarily a convenience to our customers. We will be pleased to put the site on anyone's server (which works well for non-profits who can often get free hosting with like minded groups who have their own site). We also assist people in finding these sites as well.
The following is the advertisement I received from http://seamless.com. They have successfully created a fairly large community on the net.
By popular demand, we have brought back our three special service packages. They are called "The Prospector," "The Goldminer," and "The Blacksmith."
---------------
The Prospector:
Price: $1500
Monthly rent: $75
--------------
The Goldminer:
Price: $2500
Monthly rent: $100
---------------
The Blacksmith:
Price: $3500
Domain name virtual server setup and testing: $1000
Monthly rent: $300
Use the above for comparison when you send out for bids. Look at their sites and compare quality of work, presentation, traffic and cost (e-mail the sites and ask what their traffic is and how they feel about their site). For a smaller, but similar community, see Mediate.com. For their prices: Mediate.com
Feel free to compare both prices to what I'm charging for hosting at ADR Resources (see Joining ADR Resources) -- but realize that there are significant differences between the various services.
