"Honorable Tindalasse, might I have a word with you?"

"A word, sure"

"Please. I'd like to talk with you about Ms. Indigo."

"You mean the thirty-five hundred year old assassin who saved my life when the trolls were going to eat me? Some say she is the most important person at the Court. She sure is a sweet kid."

"Kid?"

"The best. She is a hyrthdaughter of my father, honored in the court, though people who are afraid she will kill them keep begging my father for mercy. You should see her in a fight, I've never seen anyone kill Iron Trolls so fast. She is the most incredible blue lodge assassin I've ever met."

"Assassin?"

"Well, you've had your word."

"Assassin?"

"What part of a polite end to a conversation did you not understand?

The Grey Man was suddenly all Teal could see. Time not to push his luck.

Which left Teal with his thoughts. It was definitely a diplomatic situation.

Even more when the govenor called. The Bitter King had been by, to talk about votes. Then his entire Hrythgar had manifested, and he talked about blood insults.

If you had read his mind you would have heard "Man, what a mess, just in time to take up all of Thanksgiving." He told Major Dragon that it made him glad he wasn't married or he'd have a family upset at him too.

At the Bitter King's Court, She arrived in a wave of fire, covered in gore and looking a little hammered. Porkchop told me that this was the only time he had ever seen the Rukh looking the worse for wear, so to speak.

At the same time, she was fully present in force, what Amber calls her "Mom" (with a capital "M") mode. "For the one I favor, the first trophy" she said, and dropped an ancient dragon's head on the floor.

Until she said it, no one noticed the thing, which gives you an idea of just how much presence she had as the head was huge, with teeth like swords. It was probably more than forty feet long, all told. But that she was giving it to the Bitter King meant that the wars were going well and that they had won the first battle with the "trophy" going as a gift to the Bitter King.

The significance of which was not lost on those at the Court or the rumor mill. First, the Rukh still favored him (whatever that meant), second, her side was winning, third, the Bitter King now had dragon teeth to forge into swords for his hrythgar, to go with the blood rubies. An ancient dragon's tooth is Duck's heirloom blade. These would not be quite so impressive, but they would still be potent. Suddenly all the attention was on the trophy and not on her.

Not to mention, while the runes for these were death and anti-chaos, the anti-chaos was strong. Arming all of those around him in this fashion would ward him from the temptation to embrace chaos for the power it might bring him. From the remnants he could fashion dragonbone warriors, much like the dragonteeth warriors others have had.

[Swords, +30 min/max damage {6 levels}, 5 levels anti-chaos, 4 levels open wounds, ED varies 1-3 levels][Dragonbone warriors, pouch with 5 charges, each charge summons {vs. creates} 4d6 revives, special type].

The Shalgath who was in the petition line left without making a presentation. He was the same great slug who had presented the last Bitter King with the Slime Hentai as a gateway to chaos. He realized that this was not the time to make such an offer.

He thought he was unnoticed, but coincidence may only be that it was only when he left that the Rukh seemed to gather her breath, smile, and then gather fire to carry her away and back to the Lightwalker.
