Greetings from Texas:
It doesn't seem possible that it is Christmas time already. This time of
year is an emotionally mixed time for us, we still miss Jessica and Courtney
so very much, yet we are starting to have joy in the season again. So much
has happened, some of it important and some of it just news.
The important news is that we are expecting a baby in June. We have our fingers
and toes crossed and a name picked out (Robin Elizabeth Marsh). She won't
replace the children we've lost, but will surely bring a new element of joy
that only a child can bring.
The last year was really busy. Win has been third vice president for the
Texas Lawyer's Auxiliary and was asked to speak at the BYU Women's Conference
that will be held on May 1-2. Last year they had just over 16,000 women attend.
It doesn't pay, but they've promised her travel and free room and board in
the dorms -- wonder if those beds have gotten any bigger!? She has also been
invited to be inducted to Sigma Theta Tau.
Steve was appointed by the governor to the Texas Guarantee Fund Board of
Directors. They oversee about three hundred million dollars in assets. They
don't pay anything, but Steve claims that the sandwiches are pretty good
at the working lunches they put on. He also received the pro bono award for
1995 at a 1996 luncheon and was the closing speaker for the program put on
against domestic violence this year. He passed his first degree brown belt
test and is expected to test (though not necessarily pass) for his black
belt next year.
Heather is in third grade this year and is a non-stop reader. She loves "The
Baby-sitter's Club" series and just finished Where The Red Fern Grows.
She loves physics, chemistry and biology and keeps dragging home more books.
Heather also started riding lessons this fall from a local lady who is certified
to teach through dressage. She wants a horse, but there isn't enough room
in the rabbits' hutch to fit a horse in just yet.
We count our friends and family as the part of life that makes life worth
living and are glad of the time we have been able to spend being involved
with people and with the life part of living. We look forward to Win graduating
from school at the end of May, and she will make up her mind whether to start
in ICU/CCU immediately or do another year of Medical-Surgical Floor work
before she moves into the units. Steve keeps publishing a little here and
there (and has a web page up at http://members.aol.com/Ethesis). Heather
just keeps smiling.
With Lots of Love,
Steve, Win & Heather Marsh

This green color background was the color that the letter was sent on as it displays using high color. 16 and 256 color displays will be saved some of the intensity. It was a bright, happy, Christmas sort of color, and Heather liked it. Steve's Web Page is now at http://adrr.com/.
