The Dallas County Purchasing Department assists all County Departments in the purchase and disposal of materials, supplies, equipment, and services necessary for their successful operation.

The Purchasing Department is directed by the Dallas County Purchasing Agent who is appointed by a Board consisting of three District Judges and two County Commissioners for renewable two year terms as specified by Texas State Law. (Chapter 262.011 Local Government Code)

The Purchasing Agent is charged with the responsibility of directing a professional and effective staff. Each Buyer and Analyst is encouraged to specialize in one or more complex commodities as well as general categories. Sales Representatiaves may inquire at the receptionist desk to determine which Buyer or Analyst handles a specific item and/or contract.
