I've pretty much written myself out on Rhadi Ferguson
and his products. Just a few thoughts.
First, I've always done much, much better with a training
buddy or a few friends as a team. A group of four can split the costs
of a DVD set, watch it together, take notes and work on the drills (or create
drills together) and really put it together for much, much less money than
just one person can if they are doing it all themself. You can sell whatever
you don't want to keep or share on Ebay afterwards. Rhadi's stuff doesn't
seem to last long there or show up very often.
You can get a digital camera, used, like a
Canon
PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera for about $30 or $40 used.
Add in a couple of inexpensive, ten dollar 2 GB memory cards and you
can shoot an entire two day Judo tournament on video (most cameras now shoot
video). That will get you video for your scouting.
Otherwise, look around. Rhadi and other martial
artists have the following kinds of products:
-
Strength & Conditioning
-
push, pull, level change, twist, slow and fast
-
sprints, loaded sprints (e.g with weights, against sleds,
up stairs).
-
Other (such as nutrition or grip strength)
-

Find what fits you and what fits your needs.
Judo Success
Secrets or a thousand other potential products are out there. You need
to understand yourself and your Judo well enough to read reviews, talk to
people and decide what you need next and what will take you to the next level.
On books: go to your library, use interlibrary loan, and you
can order anything. You should never buy a martial arts book until
you've read it twice for free. On Masterclass Judo
books, there are much cheaper places to buy them than Amazon, but it is a
great place to read about them.
